SUMMARY:Human Brain Project Summit & Open Day 2020
DESCRIPTION:The HBP Summit & Open Day will explore multiple dimensions of neuroscience\, including infrastructure\, research\, technology\, application\, education\, and innovation. \nFollowing six very successful meetings in the central\, northern\, and western regions of Europe\, for the first time the HBP Summit moves to the southeast end of the continent\, expanding its geographic footprint to essentially cover all of Europe. A world-renowned scientific\, economic\, cultural\, philosophical\, and political landmark\, with a continuous history of human presence and activity of more than 30 centuries\, Athens offers an ideal environment to host the Summit of one the most ambitious and visionary Research Infrastructure projects in Europe today. \nHBP is at a crossroads itself\, entering its last phase of funding as a FET Flagship project and envisioning its long-term future as a landmark infrastructure in the ESFRI Roadmap. Athens is\, thus\, a fitting stage for fertile discussions\, intense exchange of ideas\, and bold new conceptions on the science\, infrastructure\, research\, technology\, application\, education\, and innovation dimensions of neuroscience in general and the Human Brain Project in particular. \nMore details on the event and registration can be found here: https://summit2020.humanbrainproject.eu/

SUMMARY:EBRAINS Community Building Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The Human Brain Project (HBP) is building the European Brain ReseArch INfrastuctureS (EBRAINS) to help advance neuroscience\, medicine and computing through six ICT service categories: Neuroinformatics\, Brain Simulation\, High Performance Analytics and Computing\, Medical Informatics\, Neuromorphic Computing and Neurorobotics. By providing EBRAINS\, HBP aims to contribute to an integrated understanding of the human brain and build up a community intended for both neuroscience and neuro-inspired research as well as a wide range of associated stakeholders within brain related diseases\, pharmaceutical industries\, ICT\, robotics etc.   \nThe HBP infrastructure workshop is designed to achieve a better understanding of the wishes and needs of stakeholders\, with a focus on patient associations and industries for being part of the EBRAINS community.  \nThis workshop will bring together stakeholders for a two-day workshop. The first day will be focused on introducing EBRAINS and services with presentations and knowledge sharing from a selected team of researchers from the HBP’s service categories. The second day will be focused on fascilitated discussions among participants\, with a focus on better understanding how industry and patient associations might benefit and contribute to EBRAINS.  \nThe workshop will take place from the 9th to 10th of December 2019\, in Brussels. \nFull details\, including agenda\, speakers and registration can be found on the HBP website: here. \n

SUMMARY:EBRAINS - NEW ENABLING INFRASTRUCTURE FOR NEUROSCIENCE
DESCRIPTION:Nov. 25\, 2019 at 12:00 – 17:00 \nThe Human Brain Project will hold an event at Marsilius-Kolleg\, Heidelberg University\, Heidelberg\, Germany on 25 November 2019 on enabling infrastructure for neuroscience. \nHBP’s unique goal is to interconnect computer science\, medicine and neuroscience to accelerate the understanding of the human brain and its diseases\, and to harness that knowledge to the benefit of society. To achieve this\, the Project has built EBRAINS – the world’s first integrated ICT infrastructure for brain research and development\, offering growing capabilities in neuroinformatics\, brain simulation\, medical informatics\, neuromorphic computing and neurorobotics\, underpinned by high-performance analytics and computing. \nThis event is open to the entire scientific community\, aiming to introduce EBRAINS with an overview of interdisciplinary efforts for the advance of digital neuroscience\, presented by HBP leadership and experts. \nFull details are available on the HBP website. \nRegister for the event here.

SUMMARY:MULTI-ACT: Does your research impact society responsibly?
DESCRIPTION:On 12 November 2019\, MULTI-ACT will host its first project-dedicated event in Brussels\, Belgium. \nThe EU-funded MULTI-ACT project\, which began in May 2018\, aims to increase the impact of health research on people with brain diseases by creating and implementing a new model allowing for the effective cooperation of all relevant stakeholders. \nAfter one and a half years of work\, a number of work packages have completed their work and will have plenty to present on the day. The focus of the event will be the following: \n• A new governance criterion allowing effective cooperation of all relevant stakeholders in multi-stakeholder research initiatives and transformative governance; \n• Innovative guidelines for effective patient engagement across the health research and innovation path; \n• A new tool for the assessment of the research impact across different dimensions including excellence\, efficacy\, social\, economic and patient reported dimension and to better tie the research results to the objectives of the initiative. \nThe official project video will also debut on the day and a networking lunch will follow immediately after the event. \nAn agenda & registration page will follow soon. For logistical details\, please see below: \nVenue:\nUniversity Foundation/Fondation Universitaire\nRue d’Egmont 11\, 1000 Brussels \nDate & Time:\n12 November 2019\n10:00-14:00 (Registration & welcome coffee begins at 9:30)

SUMMARY:3rd HBP Curriculum Workshop Series - Neurobiology for non-specialists
DESCRIPTION:3rd HBP Curriculum Workshop Series – Neurobiology for non-specialists \n1-3 July 2019 | Medical University Innsbruck\, Austria \n\n\n \n \nThis workshop especially addresses early-career researchers who are not familiar with the field of neuroscience and/or neurobiology. It covers a wide range of topics from basic neurobiology over cells biology\, electrophysiology to big data handling. Major aspects will be the challenges of data collection and interpretation in a highly complex system. \nThe course aims to provide an understanding of how data is generated in neuroscience and what are the challenges in the interpretation of data. In order to reach this aim\, active researchers will provide insight into modern methods and aspects (including ethics) of research. This will range from histological methods over electrophysiology and EEG to behavioural experiments and protocols yielding large amounts of data\, like phosphoproteomics. Moreover\, lab visits will be offered to those who are not familiar with the settings of a wet lab. Attendants should understand how their training can be useful for neurobiological research and develop a common language with life science researchers. \nThis knowledge will support and stimulate them to use elements of the HBP Research Infrastructure\, such as the Neuroinformatics and Brain Simulation Platform.
